Draft Watermark (2003)

I need to place a "Working Draft" watermark on my PowerPoint presentation slides, a la Word. PP Watermark Help only describes inserting a picture. I tried inserting Word Art on the Master Slide, toning down the intensity, light gray, etc., but it is hidden by the slide text on the individual slides. I could not find a Bring To Front command. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Make sure that you set the text placeholders to "no fill" in the slide master, so that they are transparent.

Sorry, I don't know how to do that. I can select the text and/or the text box on the Master, but don't see a way to "no fill".

In the slide master:
- Use the mouse to draw a rectangle around the text placeholders to select them.
- Take care not to select the WordArt watermark. If you do, deselect it by Shift+clicking on it.
- Point to Format | Placeholder...
- If necessary, activate the Colors and Lines tab.
- In the Fill section, select No Fill in the Color dropdown box.
- Click OK.
- Close the slide master.

Thank you, that worked as planned.

Note that on my PowerPoint 2003, I needed to "- Point to Format | Object..." rather than to "...Placeholder."

What happens if you click on the one placeholder and point at the Format menu? Does it say Format | Object... too?

Aha! For a single Placeholder, it says Format | Placeholder. I had gathered up several placeholders, which PowerPoint then called an Object (rather than Placeholders plural, I guess). Thanks for the insight.

In PowerPoint 2002 (XP), the menu option is also Format | Placeholder if I select several placeholders, but as soon as I select another kind of object with them (a picture or whatever), the menu option changes to Format | Object...
