    PDF Creator

PDF Creator is about one of the best PDF creation applications I have seen for a very long time. The other tutors at my college are heralding it and are all using it now. Knowing what that lot are like it shows that it is a very good and the generation of files are very very quick. I have succesfully used it from Excel (including charts) and Word.

    I am aware that <!profile=JohnGray>JohnGray<!/profile> posted it in <post:=552,603>post 552,603</post:> a while back but it is well worth a <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> download and test

If possible, could you specify what makes this "the best" compared to other similar <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> products.

    Re: PDF Creator

Well what I partcularly liked about the product and from my colleagues who suggested it to me was the actual speed that it produces the pdf's.

I had a stack of excel marking grids to go through the other day which I had to convert to pdf to upload on the college webct and it literally ran through them in a blink of an eye. I was experimenting with it today with an excel chart that I had created and was like a hot knife through hot butter with good quality at the end.

The interface is seperate from the main application so you open up the front end and you select which file you want from what folder. Which I think is the reason it is faster.

You can do bmp, jpeg, gif, tiff, xls, ppt, doc formats from it..... and what I always like an easy non-flashy GUI.

So far the best I have seen for a little while and after all it is my opinion so it really is a good idea to test it out yourselves as you may hate it <img src=/S/yep.gif border=0 alt=yep width=15 height=15>

I swear by pdfFactory. I like it because I can print several documents, sheets, anything to it and it then makes them into a single pdf. I can also delete unnecessary pages before the final conversion. It will also combine pdfs. Its quick enough as well.

    David,

I'll second the excellence of pdfFactory! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> One of it's features that I appreciate most is the ability to embed fonts.

    Re: PDF Creator

What I like about PDFCreator vs. others I have tried is the generally small size of the PDF's it creates. I've noticed over time that size varies considerably with different PDF programs.

Yep <img src=/S/yep.gif border=0 alt=yep width=15 height=15> I've noticed the same thing, but have never been able to pin it down. I know embedded fonts can make a huge difference to size, but I'm sure it's due to lots of other factors too.

    Re: PDF Creator

I tried this, as it seemed to fill a need for me.

The second thing I tried was an Excel workbook with seven pages. I printed the whole workbook- it was looking good. Until I viewed the pdf where I found the seventh page was not on the pdf.

This is for a weekly roster, so I don't really want to print the pages out one by one.

Has anybody else experienced this? Or is it just a problem with my spreadsheet?

The Subway week runs from Wednesday to Tuesday- so Tuesday has become a day of rest.

    Re: PDF Creator

I have used it for marking grids and it has worked fine for me. Have a look in page break preview in Excel and see how it is set up
