    Showing the outline level (2003)

    Background
I use the show button to select the outline level I want displayed. After working for a while, I want to move up or down to another outline level so I click on the show button and realize I forgot which outline level I was displaying initially. So, I have to resort to a "trial and error" reiterative process displaying several outline levels until I find the one I want.

    Question
Is there any place on the screen that indicates what the current outline level is that is being displayed? Is there a smarter way to choose another outline level considering I am not sure of my current outline level?

If you want to see the outline level you can add another field to your table. Right click any column heading and select Insert Column. In the field Name list select Outline level and click OK. The new column will be to the right of the selected column.
Another way to see levels is to add the WBS codes next to the task names.
    Select Tools Options
    Select the View tab
Check Show Outline number in the lower left
