waiting for input to a control (2003)

    VBA- after update property
In a form, I'm using an if statement to docmd.gotocontrol if specific criteria is met. Tthe code moves to the control but does not stop and wait for the user input, itstead it moves to the next line of the code. I want to wait for input to the control before continuing the code

    DoCmd.GoToControl "text50"
    rst!symp_memo = Text50

I don't understand. The normal action of a control is to wait until you enter something. Code in the same routine does not pause unless you happen to open a dialog object. Perhaps if you explain in more detail what is going on on your form, someone can suggest an approach that will work for you.

If you want to fill rst!symp_memo with the contents of Text50, you should do so in the After Update event of Text50, or perhaps in the Before Update event of the form as a whole, not in the After Update event of another control.
