    Ad-Aware Hanging on Catalog.wci

    Using Ad-Aware version se 1.06 , Build SE1R98 16.03.2006

When running Perform Full System Scan and Use custom scanning options the system hangs on this file "C:System Volume InformationCatalog.wci" after scanning 365,000 files

What do I do to correct this?

    Thanks, John

The catalog is related to the MS Indexing service, and this catalog may be corrupt. If you are running WinXP, you can delete it and start over. Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>and click on Indexing Service (left pane). Stop the indexing service from the Action Menu (Action>Stop). Then, in the right pane, click on the catalog. Then, Action>Delete. Select Yes if you are asked for confirmation. Then, in the left pane, click on Indexing Service and Action>Start to resume the indexing service (if you want this service running). Your AdAware scan should now run to completion.
