Locking Down Toolbars (Word 2003)

Is there anyway to lock down toolbars in Word 2003. When I open and close Word my toolbars move back to the original locations. Thanks!!!

Looks like your changes are NOT being saved to the Normal template.

Re: Locking Down Toolbars (Word 2003)

The standard Word toolbars are fine. I'm having a problem with third party, Genifax and KI Systems Metadata toolbars. I have 5 toolbars and I'd like to adjust the toolbars for more viewing space in a document. After I adjust the Genifax and Metadata toolbars, close Word, they fall back into their original spots...

These "Third Party" toolbars can be a PITA. I have found that you live with what is provided or contact the OEM and see if they can or will help.

I wrote a piece of code to help me with this problem in Outlook. Adapting it to work on Word would take a little doing, but perhaps not too much... I feel I am repeating myself. Oh yes, see <post#=453750>post 453750</post#>.

Re: Locking Down Toolbars (Word 2003)

This could probably be solved by:
    1.
Creating a template with a name something like __AAFixBars.dot. We want to ensure that its macros are the last run when launching Word.

Placing an AutoExec.Main macro within the template that positions your problem toolbars. )Take note of <!post=HansV's post here,549,612>HansV's post here<!/post> and its associated thread.); then

Placing the template in your Word Startup folder.
In this manner you will be able to move the toolbars up to share the same rows as the Standard and Formatting toolbars.
    Regards
    Don

I'm not sure if this will work in 2003 but in 2002, if you arrange your toolbars and then do a Shift/File Save All, that will work.
