    Tabs-Color Font or Fill? (2000)

Can I change the color of a tab or its text? When a tab is selected, the Fill and Font Color toolbar items are available, but don't change anything.

The option to change tab colour was introduced in Excel 2002.

If you right click on a tab (where it says Sheet1, etc.), you'll get a pop up menu. One of the options is "Tab Color". You can use that to change the color of the tab. You can't change the color or style of the tab font.

You can change the text of the tab from Sheet1, etc. to whatever you like. Again, right click and choose "rename" from the pop up menu.

    Hope that helps.

There are no right-click options from a selected tab. From an unselected tab, there are only worksheet functions (Insert, Move, Delete). Looks like this is a newer feature.

As Tony noted, the capability to change the color of sheet tabs was introduced in Excel 2002. It is impossible in Excel 2000 and earlier.

Following up on this exchange, somehow, the color of the font in the tab changed to Red and I would like it to be changed back. Any idea on how I could do this?

Is that in Excel 2000? Or in a later version?
Does it occur in one specific sheet only, or in all sheets?
Does it occur in one specific workbook (.xls file) only or in all workbooks?
