    Spiking (Word 2002 /XP SP3)

Is there a way to Spike track changes without removing the text from the orginial document.

    I've looked at Words help...
To insert the Spike's contents without emptying the Spike, point to AutoText on the Insert menu, and then click AutoText. In the Enter AutoText entries here box, click Spike, and then click Insert.

but this is alittle long winded, is there an easier way

    many thanks diana

    Hi Diana,

    I have done a bit of a search and not come up with something useful <img src=/S/sorry.gif border=0 alt=sorry width=15 height=15>

It seems like the long winded way is the only way to go....

PS: I haven't heard of Spiking since the 95 version of Word or prior....since the enhanced Clipboard came along, spiking has somehow lost the limelight. Nice reminder of the feature...
    Regards,
    Rudi

As Rudi indicates, the Spike is a clunky leftover from the time before the Office clipboard. Use Edit | Office Clipboard to display it. You fill it using the standard copy and cut operations, and it can hold up to 24 items. You can then paste individual items or all items at once.
