Loads of system info with wmic.exe (XP Pro only)

Today's "Handler's Diary" at the SANS Internet Storm Center provides some handy examples and a link to more documentation: http://isc.sans.org/diary.php?date=2006-03-30

What an amazing tool (which installs itself on first use) for those of us who believe that <big>the Command Line is the Future</big> !

I have only ever heard it mentioned, but never before encountered it...

The link to SS64.com leads one to simple, but nice site for command line references to several OSes plus Orcale.

    It looks very impressive. All we need now is for someone to build a nice GUI for it. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/flee.gif border=0 alt=flee width=25 height=25>

Yes, I am familiar with Simon Sheppard's website for BATch file information!

If you are up to some reading and experimentation have a look at Scripting. There's all sorts of stuff available there. See Scripting Tools and Utilities for lots of toys.

Thanks Joe. I've used vbs and js to an extent, but those links, especially to the tools, are new to me and look interesting.

The Scriptomatic page is worth a read, even if you never download the tool! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Read it and still downloaded the tool. Who says MS employees have no sense of humor? <img src=/S/anigrin.gif border=0 alt=anigrin width=19 height=19>
