Email field length?

Is the field length for email addresses in the profile something that can be altered easily or would it cause major hassle?

The reason I ask is, I used to have both my work and home email addresses in my profile so I received posts, replies, etc at both locations, but I've now changed jobs and my new work email address is about six characters too long to fit!

    Many thanks

    Re: Email field length?

Claude will have to tell you whether it is possible, but in the meantime, why don't you get a webmail address such as Gmail and specify that as Lounge e-mail address. You can view it at home and at work. (If you need a Gmail invitation, I can send you one)

...I used to have both my work and home email addresses in my profile...

And while you're waiting to hear from Claude, I'm curious as to the syntax you used to do that. I just tried three times to put two email addresses in my profile and each attempt resulted in an erroneous, continuous email address when clicked. I tried putting a space, a comma, and a semicolon between the two and none worked correctly.

    Re: Email field length?

I do have a gmail address, I was one of the original users (my address is actually @gmail.com, unlike the more recent UK ones!), but I can't view webmail at work and my home address is bigfoot and therefore using the gmail one only saves 2 characters, which isn't enough, I already tried!

I shall have to set up a rule in gmail when I get home, I suppose.

    Re: Email field length?

Well, mine was separated by a semicolon and it worked perfectly until December, when I was made redundant ,and so removed the second address from the field. Which is why I haven't been around much for the last few months, by the way - jobhunting!

Ahhh, an oldie but a goodie! If I hadn't read the thread slowly, I almost missed Claude's answer in there. I was fooling with the wrong email field. I'll step out of the way now...

If you're on Exchange at work, you could use your work e-mail address for the Lounge and have all mail from wopr.com forwarded to your home e-mail address.

Sort of - only a contract at the moment, but for silly money (more than double my last salary) and they have made noises about making it permanent - so keep your fingers crossed!

Why should being paid double what you used to be paid be classed as "silly money"? I'm sure even so it isn't as much as you are worth! [smarm!]

Awwww, thanks, John!! It's nice to have friends!

It just seems silly to me, that's all - my last job was my highest paid to date by far, and to just more than double it like that ... well, it just seems silly!

Welcome back! Nice to hear you've landed on your feet, especially as the landing was on top of a large pile of cash!

    Re: Email field length?

Thanks, Rory! Yup, if they make it permanent at something close to the money I'm getting as a contractor I'll be in hog heaven (as they say)!!
