Excel data vice Access data (Office/Excel/2k3)

I am pulling data (tax IDs) from a closed Excel workbook and similar data from an Access db. Would there be any reason why the data, if placed in two separate arrays, would not match up if the same value (i.e., an individual tax ID) were included in both? Thanks.

Are both datasets sorted when you extract them?

No, would I need to do that if I'm using a dual loop to compare?

You shouldn't if you're looping through both sets. What format are these IDs - numbers or strings? Do some of them contain leading zeroes for example which might be missing if they are stored as numbers?
