    Smilies

I don't use Smilies a lot although I've tended lately to insert them a bit more than previously. I'm wondering, though, if it's possible to "divide" the list, perhaps into Smilies and Flags, or Smiles A-M, Smilies N-Z, and Flags. I have a fairly fast DSL connection, but the download seems to take longer than I'd like. Even on my office computer which has a T-1 connection, the download lags. (Maybe I'm just impatient. <img src=/S/please.gif border=0 alt=please width=31 height=23>

I DO appreciate very much being able to include them in posts. They're clever and add to the spirit of the posts.

Go to Edit display preferences and scroll down until you see Smilie Panel format. You can choose between Complete (1 large page) and Separate (3 pages).

    THANKS! Worked beautifully.

When I insert into Outlook XP I don't see that I get motion - how do I do that?

    Re: Smilies

If you use the built-in Outlook editor, the animated gif should animate immediately and on the receiving end. To test:
<UL><LI>Create a new message and if it is not in HTML format, change it use it Format>HTML.
<LI>Use Insert>Picture and, for example, paste the URL <code>http://www.wopr.com/S/bash.gif</code> -- it should be animating right now.
<LI>To avoid the recipient having to wait for the image to load from the web, turn on Format>Send Pictures from the the Internet.
<LI>Address to yourself and send. It should be animating when you retrieve it in your inbox.[/list]If you are using Word as your mail editor, you might not see any animation. Most or maybe all versions of Word do not support animated GIFs.

Also, I find it very annoying to have animated smilies in email, so please don't send me any! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

FWIW, with the new Outlook 2007 Word is the only e-mail editor for Office.

    <big>NOOOOOoooooooooo</big>ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

You can't even patch in a text editor like you could with the old BBS Offline readers? (Boy, that takes me back 15 years. The 'Net killed SpeedRead and a host of other BBS tools. Chris Greaves remembers those days - he sent me some AMIPRO macros in maybe 1994.)

Wow, that could mean 10 years worth of macros down the drain...

So what can we deduce from all this...?

That your camera is still on Daylight Saving Time. <img src=/S/innocent.gif border=0 alt=innocent width=20 height=20>

OK. Extra marks for you. I noticed that as soon as I posted the image!
