Extract Links from Current Page (Fx1.5)

(Edited by jscher2000 on 06-Apr-06 14:55. Changed to ZIP attachment.)
This is a revised version of a bookmarklet posted on the Mozillazine Forums. It creates a new document that contains the type links from the current page. It improves on the Page Info>Links tab (from which you can copy the URLs) by including the descriptive text and a clickable link that can be directly saved as an HTML document.

Curiously, it doesn't seem to work correctly in IE6 for Windows XP SP2. The links window remains blank, but if you View>Source, the HTML is there. I don't understand this, but... I've given up on it. For now, it will be our little secret on this board.

    To install:
    1.
Bookmarks > Manaage Bookmarks

Click where you want the new bookmark

File>New bookmark or use the New bookmark button

Give it any name you like, such as Grab Links

Paste the contents of the attached .txt file into the Location line. If you use Notepad, turn off Word Wrap to make sure you get the entire line pasted.

Click OK, return to a web page, and test it out.
Please let me know if it throws any script errors or otherwise malfunctions..

Re: Extract Links from Current Page (Fx1.5)

The attached file contains the original version, plus two that are a bit more complicated and slower to run on pages with a lot of links. But the results are cooler.

Re: Extract Links from Current Page (Fx1.5)

I gave the first code in <post:=569,138>post 569,138</post:> a try and had good results with it. I first had to allow Firefox to show Popups but after I did that and clicked "Grab" again, it opened a second tab with all the links from the page that I had opened for the experiment. No problems! I'm not sure what I will use this for but it is an interesting thing to be able to do! Now to experiment with the next set of scripts you have written............
