    Upside down text (2002 SP3)

Any way to turn text 180 degrees in Excel without going through the Paste Picture/Paste Picture Link option as suggested in this post?

    Thanks.

    You could turn your monitor upside down... <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

But seriously, Excel doesn't support upside-down text in cells, if that's what you mean. The only way is to convert text to a graphic object.

What do you want the upside down text for?

    Hi Pooja,

You could insert the text into a WordArt object, which you could then rotate to whatever angle you like.

    Cheers

    Hi Hans,

It's for those file folder labels that fold over (exact same label on each side of the folder). I was trying to save some people here additional typing in Word since we already have the data in Access, we could import it into Excel and have the text turned upside down and copied to the 'other' side by having the cell copied....

    Hi macropod,

Thank you for the suggestion. I think we'll just stick to using Word for these unusual labels!

    Thank you both!

Perhaps you could use an UpsideDown Font?

You can get data from Access into Word too, using mail merge, for example, or even by copying and pasting.

In Excel, you could set the text orientation to 90 degrees in one cell, and to -90 degrees in the cell next to it.

Re: Upside down text (2002 SP3)

I know but it's not as easy to fill in the labels correctly in Word with mail merge since it insists on doing a new label when I just want a duplicate of the label above. No big deal, we'll figure it out!

Thank you for the upside-down font suggestion. I would never have gone there!

Normally, Word puts a { NEXT } field at the start of the 2nd, 3rd etc. label on a page. By removing the { NEXT } field for the 2nd, 4th etc. label, you get the labels to repeat in pairs. See screenshot - the fields to be removed are indicated.
