Number in words?! (WinXP/Word2003)

    Is there a command that will display a number as itself in words?! That is, you give it a number, eg 65, and it returns "sixty-five"? I've had a look through VBA help but either I couldn't find a keyword combination to get it to tell me what it is, or there isn't one.

    And if there isn't, is there an easier way to display numbers in words than creating an array with every possible number in it for a Word template to refer to?! I'd have to do up to about 200 and I'd really rather not!

    Many thanks

    In a field, you can specify a format, e.g.

    { Page *CardText }

    will display the page number as 'one', 'two' etc.

    You can find some VBA functions to convert numbers to text in the thread starting at <post:=6,878>post 6,878</post:>. Others: <post:=507,695>post 507,695</post:>, <post:=289,390>post 289,390</post:>, MSKB article How to convert a numeric value into English words in Excel (works in Word too).

    Hi Jan Karel, thanks for this - I couldn't find the one you pointed to, but when I repeated the google search you made I found a couple of mskb articles listed and one of them provided a solution I could use (sorry, it didn't occur to me to search google! Don't know why ... )

    Hi Hans, thanks for this and yes, the mskb article was the one I used in the end - as you can see from my reply to Jan Karel, for some reason it didn't occur to me to search google!
