Saving Outlook mails to Windows Explorer folders (

Hi. I get lots of e-mail and like to save the Outlook .msg files to my work folders in Windows Explorer. That is easy enough with the "Save as" function in Outlook. But I would like to save as .msg (the Outlook message format), and not as the default HTML that comes up on the bottom of the "Save as" screen. Is there any way to change the default "File type" from HTML to .msg? I know this is a small thing, with a possible save of only 2 clicks -- but when you get a lot of e-mail, this could be a big help.

    Thanks! David

This question is asked frequently in the newsgroups. Outlook always defaults to the format corresponding to that of the e-mail:
    - .txt for plain text messages
    - .htm for HTML messages
    - .rtf for Rich Text messages.
You might create a macro that displays a Save As dialog with .msg as default file type, and make that available through a custom toolbar button.

Where do I find your post, John? If you sent e-mail to me, I may have mistaken it for spam. Thanks for your efforts, anyway. David

David, the code I believe you want is in the text attachment to <!post=this post,287154>this post<!/post>. (I didn't email anything to you.)
