    hi jj,

    If you're prepared to delve into vba, it's relatively straightforward.

    Well, a good start in the Lounge is by doing a Search through previous Posts. The "key word" for running one Microsoft Office application from another is "automation".

    Try searching on the Excel Board for "automation", "Word" and "doc" (just those 3 words without the quotes). ("doc" - as you may know - is the default extension for a Word document.) That should give you 10-20 threads to start from.

    hi jj

    Here's some code to:
    . open a Word document (named "C:My DocumentsMy File.doc")
    . copy a range (A1:J10) from the first sheet in the current Excel workbook
    . paste the copied range (as a link) at the end of the document:

    Sub SendRangeToWord()
    Dim wdApp As Word.Application
    'Copy source range
    ThisWorkbook.Sheets(1).Range("A1:J10").Copy
    'Establish a link to Word
    Set wdApp = New Word.Applicationwd
    App.Visible = True
    With wdApp
    'open the target Word Document
    Documents.Open Filename:="C:My DocumentsMy File.doc"
    With wdApp.Selection
    'Go to end of document and insert a new paragraph
    .EndKey Unit:=wdStory
    .TypeParagraph
    .PasteSpecial Link:=False, DataType:=wdPasteOLEObject, _
    Placement:=wdInLine, DisplayAsIcon:=False
    .Selection.Collapse wdCollapseEnd
    End With
    End With
    'Release the Word object variable
    Set wdApp = Nothing
    End Sub

    Just to get you started and give you an idea of what's possible.

    In addition to Macropod's answer if you are just looking to open Word or a specific document, have a look at this:
