    Make an MDE (Access2000/Access 2003)

Hello all, I have a problem making an MDE file. Two days I was able to make a MDE file from a database called Client.MDB. Since then I made some changes to some of the VBA code and added a Button to one form. Now when I try to make an MDE file I get "Microsoft Office Access was unable to create an MDE Database" . Now I backed off the change and still have the message. I deleted some forms, queries and reports, same message. Rename the database, same problem. Other MDBs still make MDEs. So I can not see the trees for the forest. HELP!!!!!!!!!

<P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by charlotte on 12-Apr-06 18:56. clarification)</P>You can't make a 2000 mdb into an mde using Access 2003. It has to be in 2003 format first.

Re: Make an MDE (Access2000/Access 2003)

Sorry if I was not clear Charlotte. The Client.MDB is in the 2003 format and Monday it compiled. One button on a form and one VBA On Click module and I can not make a MDE file. I have other MDBs with more forms, reports and queries, and they compile into MDEs. All but two tables are linked. Linked tables live in two other MDBs. Still kornfused, Sarge

Does the code compile if you're not trying to create an MDE? You definitely can't if there is an error in the code.

    Hi Charlotte,
As I said, I could not see the trees for the forest. I would have bet on the compile, but I would have lost. After I compiled, i must have done a fat finger, for I found a field misspelled. Now It is A okay. Help sent me off in the wrong direction, so Thank you for setting me back on the right path.
