    Word options to set condionally (WORD 97/2000/2003)

    Hi

    I am not sure if this is possible but I will ask the question anyway. I have template used by about 1000 users on different versions of WORD - 97, 2000, 2003. I have so far catered well for 97/2000 users but now have problem with the changes to the 2003 options. For example, in 97/2000 we can click the TOC page number to jump to that page. In 2003 we have to use CTRL-click to do the same thing. My users are not happy regarding this change. Ok. So, after a lot of digging around I found out that in 2003 there is an option 'User CTRL + Click to follow hyperlink'. This needs to be OFF so that jumps to hyperlinks work in the same way as 97/2000. I was hoping to somehow switch off this facility in an AutoNew or AutoOpen macros but obviously this option does not exist in either 97 or 2000. If I try setting/unsetting this in the template - I get 'Method or Data Member not found' when run under 97 or 2000.

    Therefore, the question is it possible to create a template that somehow knows which version of WORD is being used and set/unset specific options?

    Thanks for your help in advance. I hope this can be achieved.

    You could do something like this:

    Sub SetHyperlinkBehavior()
    Options.CtrlClickHyperlinkToOpen = False
    End Sub

    Sub AutoNew()
    If Val(Application.Version) > 9 Then
    Call SetHyperlinkBehavior
    End If
    End Sub

    Sub AutoOpen()
    If Val(Application.Version) > 9 Then
    Call SetHyperlinkBehavior
    End If
    End Sub

    If the version is 9 (i.e. Word 2000) or lower, SetHyperlinkBehavior will not be called, so you get no error.
    Note: Debug | Compile will flag an error in Word 2000 or earlier, but AutoNew and AutoOpen will still run.
