Messages stuck (Outlook 5 for mac)

    Hello,
Someone I know uses Outlook 5 for Mac (Mac OS 9).
(I'm no MAC expert, I'm a PC enthusiast.)
He recently downloaded his e-mail and received junk-mail.
Now he's unable to delete the junk-mail messages and can't download mail using the "SEND/RECEIVE" function of outlook anymore.
He is still able to send messages though.
Would anybody know what to do in such a case ?
I thought it might be something like a spyware problem so I'm looking into a anti-spyware scanner for mac OS9 but I'm still not sure that would solve the problem...

Thanks in advance for anything that could help us out.

    HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY

Unfortunately, I don't have Outlook on my MAC, but I wonder if your friend can access his email box from the web through his ISP? He could see if anything was "stuck" there and delete it from his webmail box?

    Happy Easter to you too! <img src=/S/yep.gif border=0 alt=yep width=15 height=15>

As weird as it might seem the ISP doesn't support mac for it's webmail interface.

I was wondering if there was a way to delete the INBOX and maybe it would be automatically re-created.

    Anyways, I'm still looking

    Have a nice day

I don't know how to delete a mailbox and have it be restored. But on the Outlook application that I have on my PC under the "Help" menu item, there is an option for "detect and repair" - maybe that would be something to try? You may need to have the install disk handy if the repair process happens to ask for it? Can you share the name of the ISP? You have my curiosity stirred up now. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    The ISP name is Videotron...

Though I'm not sure about them not accepting mac. The guy tried it himself and he is not very good in computers but he told me it didn't work and he and I assumed videotron didn't accept mac...

Thanks for the info, I'll check out the HELP on my own computer (even if I don't use OE I still have it just in case some clients have it and need help)

Outlook 5 for Mac quoted from your 1st post.

OH! Are you asking for help for Outlook? or for Outlook Express? I was under the impression from your first post that this problem concerned Outlook! Now I'm confused about which application your friend needs help with.............? <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>

Me once more! If you go to this page I think your friend would only need to put his pertinent information in the boxes on the top right of the page under "webmail" and he should be able to get to his mailbox on their server. See what you think but it shouldn't be a problem whether he has a MAC or a PC so long as I have found the right ISP. Of course I can't try it since I don't have a subscription with them but he could give this a go and see what happens.

Re: Messages stuck (Outlook 5 for mac)

Sorry about that (my mizzzztake) but the problem is with OE (woops)

Oh and btw the site you sent me is exactly what I told him to try... I think the clients of videotron have to activate the webmail function by filling out the information in the middle/lower part first and he might not have done that correctly.

Anyways, I might be droping by his place this week so I'll try it out.

And since it's high speed cable he can't bring the computer over to my office so that I can fix it... At least I can't test it out right there....

    Thanks again
