Changing from Formula to Value (Office 2003)

I saw a neat trick, but forgot how to do it or really how to describe what it is, but here goes.

Say I have a value (entry) in a spreadsheet that is made up of something like:

    ="(" & t20 & "/" & t21 & ")"

this yields something like (2/5), but if I want to copy the result to somewhere else, I can do something that will get rid of the references and leave me with the result. Anyone know how to do this?

As a side note, how do you keep track of all of the tidbits that you learn? Some of them are easy to remember, but with Excel there are so many, how do you do it. I try to keep a stack of printouts.

    Thanks,

    Andy

You can copy the cell and the do a "Paste Special". In the dialog box select "Values" in the Paste section of the dialog box and click OK.

    Andy,

I see you got an answer on paste values.

As to your side note, I copy-paste interesting items/tricks into a text file and give it a name that suggests what the info is about. If there's a spreadsheet that demonstrates the trick, I try to give that the same name (except with an xls extension instead of txt). All these files go into a folder called "Excel tips". When I want to recall something, I can search the folder using Windows' search feature for a word in the file name. Works for me.
