    Defrag Progress (XP)

I have created batch files to defrag various drives. The command within a batch file is "Defrag C:"

Is it possible to see sometype of progress indicator. I have tested the verbose flag "-v" but it never indicates the progress of the defrag.

Start | Run | cmd.exe | defrag -? for command line options. Also see "windows xp" defrag switches - Google Search for more information on the defrag tool.

The simple answer to your question is "No".

What do you understand by 'progress'? In the GUI version the 'progress indicator' isn't even remotely linear, and I certainly can't predict when the defrag operation will end from the current percentage value. All you can say is that a higher percentage value means you're nearer to the end!

I've been keeping stats on 15-or-so PCs defragged on a ~weekly basis, and I can guess roughly how long a defrag might take this week on a specific PC from the historical figures -- but if it has been heavily used/had lots of new software installed since last week, I could be wrong by a factor of two or three...
