Phone No and RecordSelectors (Access 2003/Windows XP)

    Hi,
    I have two problems:
    1. I have four Phone Number fields. Each uses the Mask !(999")" 000-0000;;_ . All are defined in the table and look the same to me. Problem? On the first phone number the mask appears once you key the first number. On all the others the mask never appears. I am stumped at this point.
    2. I have a form showing multiple records. How can I have the form open on the first record's RecordSelector?
    Help!!!!,
    Sarge

    1) Does this happen when you try to enter data directly into the table, or only in a form based on the table?

    2) The first record should be the active record when you open the form. If you really want the record selector to be highlighted, you could create the following event procedure in the form module:

    Private Sub Form_Load()
    RunCommand acCmdSelectRecord
    End Sub

    HANS,
It happens both in the table and one form. A second form it works. I can not see the tree for the forest.

    Could you do the following?
    - Create a blank new database.
    - Import the problem table into the new database
    - Check whether the problem still occurs.
    - If not, import the rest of the tables, forms etc. into the new database, and use that.
    - Otherwise, delete all records from the table in the new database, compact the database, zip it and attach it to a reply here,

    Hans,
Okay, if I open the table or one of the forms the Mask only works for one Phone number. However, when I go to the database where the table lives, the phone numbers work. I forgot to say the database with the problem links the data table into it.

What happens if you delete the linked table in the frontend database, then create it anew (using File | Get External Data | Link Tables)?

Make sure the Input Mask and the Format properties are consistent for each control.
