    Media Player 10 (WinXp Sp-2)

Every time I "touch" the Windows Media toolbar, a box pops up with data on the song that's playing -- neat, but I don't want it.

How the heck do I turn that off -- for good?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

    Try this....

The Features taskbar contains buttons that link to the key Player features, such as Now Playing, Library, Rip, Burn, Sync, and Guide. In Windows Media Player 10, the taskbar appears at the top of the Player. You can hide or show the taskbar by doing the following:
In Windows Media Player 10, right-click the title bar, point to View, point to Menu Bar Options, and then click Hide Taskbar.
When a check mark appears beside the Hide Taskbar command, the taskbar is hidden. When a check mark does not appear beside the Hide Taskbar command, the taskbar is displayed.

    Hans:

right-click on Taskbar, then Toolbars/Windows Media Player...

    Did I say it wrong?

No, I see what you mean now; I thought you meant a toolbar in Media Player itself.

I don't think you can suppress the display you mean unless you disable the entire Media Player toolbar. If you do that, minimizing Media Player will result in a normal taskbar button instead of the special miniplayer.

(If I have understood you correctly, DocWatson's reply does not apply to your question)
