    Bullets (Powerpoint 2002)

    Hey,
Whenever I use bullets in powerpoint , the default are strange shapes. I am not sure why this is, I inherited this computer from someone else.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jordan

    Re: Bullets (Powerpoint 2002)

Default settings are stored in a template called Blank.pot; its default location is Cocuments and Settings<username>Application Data | Microsoft | Templates.
If there is such a file, quit all instances of PowerPoint, rename Blank.pot to Blank.old, then start PowerPoint to see if the problem is gone. Otherwise, undo the renaming.

Note: Application Data is a hidden folder, so you must show hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer to see it.

The only file in that folder was the Word template "Normal.dot". I searched my computer for Blank.pot but didnt find anything?

In that case, you can try to create Blank.pot:
    - Create a new presentation.
    - Apply the design template you like.
    - Select View | Master | Slide Master.
    - Click on the first level in the placeholder for bulleted text.
    - Select Format | Bullets and Numbering...
    - Click Customize...
    - Select a bullet you like - you can change to another font if you like (Wingdings for example).
    - Click OK twice.
    - Repeat for the other levels.
    - When you're done, select View | Normal.
    - Save the presentation as a template named Blank.pot.
PowertPoint should use Blank.pot for blank new presentations from now on.

I tried that and my defaults now seem to work but if you view the attached screen image, the bullets seem very strange still.

    Re: Bullets (Powerpoint 2002)

    There are several possible explanations:
    1) The Wingdings font is not installed on your PC, or if it is, it has become damaged. You can run Windows Setup to repair it.
    2) Your default printer does not support TrueType / OpenType fonts. Have you installed a "real" printer and set it as default printer?

    Re: Bullets (Powerpoint 2002)

    Hey Hans,
I am using a network printer which I used on my last computer and had no problems.

I am thinking its a problem related to this computer. How would I go about repairing windows without running the full set up?
    Thanks,
    Jordan
