    Can't use SendObject (Access2000)

I hardly ever use DoCmd.SendObject (can't remember last time), so I don't know that it has ever worked for me. But I now have a need to send a quick e-mail message to an administrator when a user makes a certain selection. But any attempt to use SendObject gives me a "SendObject isn't available now" message. Am I missing a reference or something? Get same message whether I do it via code or a macro.

Have you specified a default e-mail application, and is it MAPI-compliant?

Also: from what event are you trying to use SendObject? And are you just trying to send a message, or are you actually attaching a database object?

I'm just trying to send a message, not actually attach an object. My e-mail client is TheBat, and I believe it is MAPI compliant. SendObject works on my old (Win98) computer with same e-mail client and same version of Access.

Have you set TheBat as default e-mail program in the Programs tab of Tools | Internet Options in Internet Explorer?

Can you use SendObject to send a message to yourself from the Immediate window in the Visual Basic Editor?

TheBat is the default mail client. If I use Application.FollowHyperlink with a "mailto:" as part of the hyperlink string, it opens fine. And I get the same error message if I try to use SendObject from the Immediate window. All very puzzling.

It is puzzling indeed. I'm afraid I have no other ideas (except using a different mail client).

In TheBat have you looked under "Options"...Applications.

There is a button there that says "Install TheBat as the simple MAPI request handler"

My recollection is that it works Ok once you click this. I used to use TheBat before switching to Thunderbird.
