Plot - No Gaps for Empty Cells (2002 SP3)

Hi, I would like a Column plot where empty cells are ignored completelly (i.e. not even "Empty Gaps"). Is there a way to do this?

It might be more clear in the attachment. I basically want to remove the empty space between the columns in the middle.

    Thanks for any advice.

Do you mean the data in Sheet2? (If so, what is the significance of Sheet1 for this problem?)
Will the data always be as in the example, i.e. no overlap in the category values? You could create a new data series as in the attached example.

Sorry, forgot there was data in Sheet 1. Please ignore Sheet 1.

To answer your question, I looked at your attachment and you've plotted it differently. Namely, the X axis is wrong. I want the x-axis to be from column A (so, just two categories) (so, data is in columns rather than as in rows, as you plotted it). The problem I am trying to solve (if it's possible) is that I would like the plot to completely ignore the empty cells (i.e. don't even leave gaps)

I cleaned up my example in the attachment - it should be more clear what I want. (I put a little text + lines to indicate what I would like to have removed)

    Thanks for any advice/help/trickery,
    Alex

Perhaps someone else has an idea. I don't see how what you want can be done (it doesn't make sense to me, sorry).

I see 2 relatively simple options (see attached)
    1) reordering the columns to put the G222A items first then the G222 items. this puts the gaps on the ends which is not as bad and has not gap in the middle.
    2) Rearranging and Using a stacked bar to give the impression there are are 2 items

    Steve,

Wow, option 2 is ingenious and very close to what I had in mind. It's safe to say I wouldn't have gotten to that on my own.

Thanks a lot. You guys are awesome.
