    segment a file (excel 2003)

    hi all,
is there an easy way( code format) that will break a one sheet data into multiple sheets.

what i have is a workbook with one sheet that has over 10 columns and 40000 lines of data. i won break it into multiple sheets in the same workbook say based on the date column. for example if the 40000 lines cover a period 2000-2006, i won break it into 6 sheets,2000,2001.....,2006 and dump the Corresponding data for each date in each sheet.
    TIA

As the posts that Hans pointed you to show, this can be done with VBA code. However, if this is a one time thing, then the easiest thing would probably be to sort the worksheet on the date column and then use copy and paste to move the data to separate sheets. If you are going to have to do this frequently, then a macro would be appropriate.
