    SR-1: Can't install patches

I've just tried to install the FrontPage Web Client Security Update. However, it errored out before installing, saying:

"Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Standard is not at the SR-1 level. This update can only be applied to Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 products. Please update all of your Office 2000 products to the SR-1 level and then reapply this update."

Of course, my concern is that I thought I HAD updated to Office 2000 SR-1. I go to the About page for each of the programs, and they say SR-1.

I have NOT applied the Outlook e-mail security patch, as suggested by our good friends at WoodyLand. Could that be the issue? If so, then we're in deep doo-doo if we can't apply any of the subsequent patches until we break down and apply the awful e-mail security update...

    In any event, any suggestions?

Did you install SR-1 or SR-1a?
If you have NOT installed SR-1a this might be your problem.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

According to Micro$, it should not make any diff:

Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

    SR-1 Update Already Applied

If you already applied the SR-1 update, you do not need to run either the SR-1a update or the Office 2000/Windows 2000 Registry Repair Utility.

    http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/ar...s/Q261/9/33.ASP

Just for grins, I tried to apply the SR-1a patch, and it did not allow me to do it, saying I already had the SR-1 update applied. (According to Micro$, the SR-1a's only difference from SR-1 is that it adds some registry repair elements that are only used in Win2000 -- which I'm not using (I'm on ME), so there should be no difference between SR-1 and SR-1a for me...

So, I'm still clueless on where to go from here...

I also am unable to apply updates to my SR-1a installation. I installated SR-1a from a Microsoft CDRom onto my OEM copy of Office 2000 Professional, apparently successfully. I am running W2k, and IE 5.5 SP1. My *.msp files are at SR-1a level.

if you want ot try reapplying the patch, edit the registry.
browse this key for the SR patches key and rename it to oldpatches

    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInstallerProduct s
