    Double Underline (word 2000 9.0.4402SR1)

When I double underline the top line of the double prints through the lower part of the number I am underlining. Format, font, underline, double chosen, on print preview appears ok but when printed the line is through the text/number being underlined.

First, remove all previous formatting (even if you're sure there is none): Select the paragraph wherein lies the text in question. Pres Ctrl+Q to reset paragraph formatting. Then reset the character formatting by selecting the text and pressing Ctrl+[spacebar].

Apply the double underline again. Still a problem? Attach a sample Word document so we can take a look.

p.s. I've seen problems like this associated with documents that were "converted" from WordPerfect. Is that the case here?

Thanks for you suggestion it has worked. I was not converting documents. However, we did just upgrade from Word 97to Word 2000. New documents created in Word 2000 is where I'm encountering the intermittent problem of the double underlining cutting off the lower half of text. $1.00 when double underline the line is through the lower half (cut off is lower than strikethrough which is not what I'm doing).

    Thanks again, for your assistance the Ctrl-Q should help. <img src=/S/bow.gif border=0 alt=bow width=15 height=15>
