populating tables with dummy data (SQL Server, Access 2K)

I dimly recall their being methods or tools for populating tables in a db with dummy data useful for testing purposes, etc. dimly, however, is the operative word here... <img src=/S/bagged.gif border=0 alt=bagged width=22 height=22>

if i was just dreaming of such a thing (sadly, not unlikely), fine but if ya'll know of some techniques/tools I'd much appreciate it!

I'm not aware of such a tool. It might be easier to create dummy data in Excel (for example using the RAND or RANDBETWEEN functions, and copy/paste into Access.

thanks, just went ahead and did it by hand. as for the 'dim memory' I think it was really more like using cross joins to create a really large dataset for testing purposes...
