Disable Network Connections in User Profile

Hi,

My question is: Is it possible to disable the automatic network connection and the wireless connection of my laptop in just a single user profile?

The reason: I use my laptop at the office, and then its great that it searches and connects to wireless LANS and reads my network, etc, but when i get home I find it takes a few more (irritating) minutes to search for a LAN (which does not exist at home) and then tell me it cannot find a network anywhere! I want to create a user profile called HOME. When i log onto this profile, it must not search or attempt to connect to a network! When I did this before my post, I disabled the network settings in my HOME profile, but when i got to the office the next day, my PC did not connect to anything! I discovered that disabling the network connections affects all user profiles.

Any suggestions to be able to do something like this??

Tx
Regards,
Rudi

Re: Disable Network Connections in User Profile

Create a second Hardware Profile.

Right-click My Computer icon and from pop-up menu choose Properties (or open System from Control Panel).
Click Hardware tab, then click Hardware Profiles button.
On Hardware Profiles window, click Copy button and type appropriate name for a new profile (as Home or Office). You can rename current profile also. Now during bootup you will have a choice of profiles.

Now both profiles are identical. When the next time you will boot up to the different profile, make necessary changes (as disabling network connections) - profiles will become different and will stay that way.

Not wanting to make things worse ...
One fellow Lounger that gets his name misspelled often is <!profile=Leif>Leif<!/profile>. Do a search for "lief". Yep, I know too much time ...

When I first saw it, I thought lief???? I could only think of some Belgian beer: Liefman. Apparently, it is an adverb in the English language. Ah well, my English knowledge is not any good. In Sweden, we had, in 2005, 41.699 men called Leif as given name / first name, and if including middle names the total number is 69.937. That is not so many, but still quite common.

Your calculations had me worried for a moment until I remembered the disparity in the way we use the 'dot' and 'comma' as a decimal point and thousand delimiter. I was trying to work out exactly how you could have 699/1000 of a person, regardless of how he spelt his name

You are right....in the beginning, I always typed "Lief" too... This was a common error as in South Africa, lief = Love (in Afrikaans....or Dutch - get Hans to confirm!)

Anyways....its easier now to type Leif...although I still think of Love....

Leif...I lief you!

My fault. A typical "double correction". When I am thinking: now do not misspell that, then, just because of the focus on the word, it is "corrected on time too much".

I spell mostly the U.K. way, but when it comes to numbers, sigh. I did think: now you must change / add a dot, but I was of course thinking about decimal point.
If I had typed them as we do here, it would have been 41 699 (or 41699).

Talking about names: Do you realize that you have a newspaper named after you here in South Africa.
See this link: The Argus ...
