    Mapping Software

    I am looking for mapping sofware that you can drill down to street level and map on a specific side of the street telephone and electrcal poles plus points of interest. Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!!!

    Have you looked at Google Earth? Telephone poles may be wishful thinking, since accuracy in my experience is only within 100 yards or so, but it's a helluva program that shows detailed, real-time information.

    The industrial-strength, commercial standard in my industry is Arc Info. Its smaller sibling is ArcView, but still very expensive. An open source alternative is MapWindow, found at http://www.mapwindow.org . I am quite impressed by it, especially at the price!
