opening an excel workbook and losing data err (excel 2003)

My porblem is that i have created a workbook which serves as a template to making a Job report. I have used some of excels gooyee stuff like check boxs and combo boxs. I have a macro which saves the report to the appropiate folder depending on the month the program is created in. When I tested this report template from my computer and saved the template with the macro all went fine. When Iwanted to see how it would work on the network so i made a report on another computer. after clicking the macro, it saves the report template fine but when i go to open it the error message "File Error: Data may have been lost" show up after the enable macro security box.
so if i click ok about 10 time on the error message i open wht work box with all the data there, but no gooyee things like buttons, check boxes etc. some of which have a macro behide them. The macro in my VBA editor are still there but there is no buttons and cother gooyee stuff

I am am wondering what could cause this problem?

    Thanks

Re: opening an excel workbook and losing data err (excel 2003)

I am involved with marketing a security add-on for Excel and we have come across quite a few people who are encountering the "File Error: data may have been lost" message - I don't think the specific cause is the same (unless you got a VERY early edition of IE7!), however this may provide some pointers.

The problem seems to occur with spreadsheets containing hyperlinks in pictures/objects etc; for us the issue only manifests itself once IE7 is installed. Also it does not seem to occur on all upgraded machines, so perhaps there's a little more to it for Microsoft to investigate? The issue does however appear to occur on all types of Excel workbooks (and possibly other applications - eg Visio/Word?); the only resolutions we have come across is to either roll back to IE6, or to remove all hyperlinks from the workbooks (a bit of a pain for us as our security wrapper disables the hyperlink dialogs, and our clients may have to remove the entire picture.)

We are notifying all our clients regarding this issue, and have posted a warning on our website (www.spreadsheetvalidation.com), together with a link to an article containing a detailed explaination on how to resolve the problem.
