    Activex Control error (Outlook 2003)

When I reply to emails I get the following error: Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly.
    Any help much appreciated.

Please see Jefferson's reply in the thread I referred to. He describes a setting in Word that controls smart tags.

Sorry, no idea then. Perhaps someone else will have a suggestion.

Hans, I have changed the security settings to medium and it works (in Outlook went to: Tools->Options -Security Settings Zone settings changed to medium).

    Thanks for all your help,

Re: Activex Control error (Outlook 2003)

I've done everything listed in this thread and I am still getting the "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly." This all started happening when I changed my Message format by unchecking "Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit email messages". I don't want to use Word to edit/reply/forward emails. I've never had to use it before (I have a new computer). Why can't I just use HTML without getting this pesky warning? I am using Office 2003.

Do you use a signature for your e-mails?

Yes. I "think" I created it with Word since I know I didn't make any config changes when I first set up this computer and since it is now giving me trouble...

What happens if you temporarily turn off the signature (select <None> in the Signatures section of the Mail Format tab of Tools | Options...)? Do you still get the ActiveX error?

Re: Activex Control error (Outlook 2003)

Voila`! I have been using my signature (created with Word) for a week now on new messages but yesterday I added it to replies and forwards. This morning the warning started. So, how do I use my signature on replies and forwards? Or is there another way to create a signature besides Word? My signature has a link to our company website.

Re: Activex Control error (Outlook 2003)

You can experiment with editing the existing one or creating a new one - click the Signatures... button in the same dialog. A mere hyperlink shouldn't cause the ActiveX warning, but perhaps your signature contains more.

Re: Activex Control error (Outlook 2003)

I deleted my signature and then re-created it. It opened Word for advanced editing but when I tested it on a reply and forward it worked without the pesky warning. Thanks, Hans!
