    Edit Data (A2k)

    The following is the datasource behind a form.

    SELECT tblProgress.EstNo, tblProgress.Supp, tblProgress.Strip, tblProgress.Panel, tblProgress.Paint, tblProgress.Fit, tblProgress.Valet, tblProgress.Complete, tblProgress.Notes
    FROM tblProgress;

    If I add another table ie tblEst as below, I cannot edit the data in the form. Strip,Panel,Paint & fit are Yes/No check boxes which need to be filled in .

    SELECT tblProgress.EstNo, tblProgress.Supp, tblProgress.Strip, tblProgress.Panel, tblProgress.Paint, tblProgress.Fit, tblProgress.Valet, tblProgress.Complete, tblProgress.Notes, tblEst.REG, tblEst.OWN_NME, tblEst.VEH_MOD
    FROM tblEst RIGHT JOIN tblProgress ON (tblEst.SUP_NO = tblProgress.Supp) AND (tblEst.EST_NO = tblProgress.EstNo);

    Are there any properties I can edit to allow me to edit the check boxes and still include tblEst ?

    Hi Dave,

    Do you really need a right join?

    Does it help if you use SELECT DISTINCTROW ... instead of SELECT ...?

    As the version below ?

    SELECT DISTINCTROW tblProgress.EstNo, tblProgress.Supp, tblProgress.Strip, tblProgress.Panel, tblProgress.Paint, tblProgress.Fit, tblProgress.Valet, tblProgress.Complete, tblProgress.Notes, tblEst.REG, tblEst.OWN_NME, tblEst.VEH_MOD FROM tblEst INNER JOIN tblProgress ON (tblEst.EST_NO=tblProgress.EstNo) AND (tblEst.SUP_NO=tblProgress.Supp);

    Sill won't let me edit !

    Is there a unique index on the combination of EST_NO and SUP_NO or on EstNo and Supp?

    It would help if you could attach a zipped sample database with only the two tables (with a couple of records) and the query.

    Re: Edit Data (A2k)

    That could well be, but depends on the structure of tblEst and tblProgress.

    Do both tables have primary keys defined or at least unique keys to use in the join? If not, your query is not magically going to become updateable.

    Hans, Charlotte

    Thanks for the help on this, I've now sorted it.
    By referencing the subform in another way, I've achieved what I set out to do.

    Thanks again, you advice is always appreciated.
