Oooh that is a difficult one...you will find that there are not many sites out there that will give you this type of stuff for ..why should they for that matter.

You will have to dig hard and deep into the internet for this type of stuff as I imagine there are a few "underground" newsgroups and sites that do this. MS exam questions and cram material are big business and effectively any site has to be updated on a regular basis. To get proper up to date questions you ARE going to have to pay for it...sorry

Right, hot off the press. I don't use these services but you can get a lot of this stuff from the www using P2P sites, the legality of doing this is for your own conscience

Re: Practice questions / assessment for MOS exam (2000)

I have taken all of the 2000, 2003 and 2003 MOS exams and I found if you knew how to do all the skills listed on the Microsoft web site for each exam you will do well on the Exams. They are timed, but I did not have any trouble finishing the exams in the time available. I usually start with the PowerPoint exam as it has been the one that I found to be to be easy. This gets me started into exam mode. The most difficult for me was the Project exam.

I know I am new here but you would be much better off getting yourself a European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) the Microsoft one looks very similar and in my opinion too easy. ECDL also lets you do lots of other things with Access, Excel, Word and Internet stuff, Employers like ECDL.

Another thing, and I may be talking out of turn, but what makes you think you should have all this stuff for Microsoft for free, I hate this attitude of people that think the internet is a source of free commodities....would you go into W H Smiths and expect them to give you free books? I don't think so

I am not sure about the Eurpoean countries but in California where I live the MOS certifications are required to be held by at least one instructor in a training organization for many State and Government contracts. Because I have all the certifications including a Master Instructor the organizations I represent are eligible for some of the larger contracts that require the certs. Microsoft does offer free practice exams and also offers a list of skills necessary to be successful with the exams. I think this helps take the guess work out of what you need to know. There are books that can be purchased for each series of exams and also test banks that can be purchased. I think trading this kind of thing on the Interned for free is illegal. What is offered for free is for sharing.

My brother has a lot of contractors working for him and they all get updated in MS exams regularly to show that they are up to date.

My point was that people have a tendency tho think they can just go on the web and get things for free all the time. OK this site and others are here for us to share knowledge. You are right that kind of trading is illegal but I don't quite understand what you mean what is offered for free is for sharing..is that a play on words?

No play on words intended. My only point is that there is a wealth of material on the Web that is legally free and intended to reach the broadest audience possible. I do not approve of sharing what is intended for resale but I do take full advantage of what is offered at no charge and share those resources with others I know might be interested. This lounge is a great example of shared information by a group of very knowledgale participants. I could not purchase at any price the wealth of information I have learned in the lounge, not to mention the spirit of general "lets make something work and help others if we can attitude" shared by other lounge participants.

Not sure who WH Smiths is but I get free Books from one the largest publishing houses every month. All I have to do is review the book looking for errors (typo, errors).

I understand what mean about MicroSoft and to some extend I agree with you. But, what about the people that don not have the "extra" money to purchase all these items? People that have been layed off work or just can not get work. Their numbers are growing all the time. I was in that category a while back, I was lucky and found a large company in Houston, Tx that does training for a fee. THey allowed me to take several courses at no cost to help me fine a job.

Re: Practice questions / assessment for MOS exam (

I spent $45 for a book on teaching myself MS Access 2003 and learned about 10% of what I have learned from the mind of Hans and others on this site. Sharing knowledge is a wonderful thing (hopefully from the sharer and sharee point of view). What I have learned in the computer world to pass certification exams comes from doing it (most of the time wrong in the first attempt, but learning from my mistakes) rather than reading a book or going to a class to learn the material. I took a class at a university to get my A+ certification, but ended up teaching far more than I learned. It was a wonderful experience to be able to give the gift of my knowledge to someone else.
