    Cell Contents in a Cell Reference (2002)

    Is there anyway to use the contents of a cell in a reference to another cell.

    For example:
    I have a workbook for my invoices. Each invoice is on a separate tab with the invoice ID as the name.

    On a summary page I would like to enter the invoice number in one cell, and have references use that entry to refer to other cells... e.g. instead of entering <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold">='60501'!$H$10</span hi> in the cell, I would like it to be something like <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #000000; font-weight: bold">=' c1 '!$H$10</span hi> where the contents of cell C1 is the invoice number.

    You can use the INDIRECT function for this:
    <code>
    =INDIRECT("'"&C1&"'!$H$10")
    </code>
    will return the value of cell H10 on the sheet whose name is in cell C1.

    Wow, that was fast. I spent a long time trying to find the answer on my own. The INDIRECT function is a new one for me... thanks!
