paste quotes into excel get removed (Excel XP SP3)

    Hello

If I have data enclosed in "quotes". and I copy this text from an application and paste into excel. The result is tje quotes disappear, although the text remains.
I then go thru my long text list and add quotes before the word and after the word which is time consuming.

Do you know why this is happening? Any ideas on how to retain my quotes?

    many thanks :-)

In a quick test, I could not reproduce the problem - quotes were preserved when pasting fron another application into Excel. Can you provide more information?

I also tested this between word and excel. I noticed that if I paste "test" from word into excel, the quotes remain, but if I paste special (txt, or paste as text), then it removes the quotes.

So it may be that you are pasting special using text....try a standard copy/paste. Or even try pasting the data from the application you are using into word first. Then recopy and paste into excel as a standard paste!
