    Restrict Cell content length (2003)

    Greetings,
I am in need of restricting the data entered into a Cell to 32 characters. Alphanumeric.

    Thanks,
    Brad

    You can use data validation:

    select the cells
    Data - validation
    Allow: "Text Length"
Data: "Less than or equal to"
    Maximum: 32
    [ok]

It will give a message if the text is too long (you can add your own message in the "Error Alert" tab of validation dialog box to be more descriptive.

    Select the cell (or cells)
    Select Data | Validation...
In the Allow dropdown, select Text Length.
In the Data dropdown, select Less than or equal to.
In the Maximum box, enter 32.
Activate to the Error Alert tab.
Make sure that the Stop style is selected, and enter an instructive (or insulting) message to be displayed when the user enters more than 32 characters.
    Click OK.
