    Two PCs, one USB printer

I've not done this before, and don't have the equipment to test it!

Someone wants to print to a USB printer either from a PC or from a laptop. Can one just put a 4-port USB hub (say) in the path, with one connection to the printer and one to each of the laptop and the PC? Or would there be electrical interface problems? Alternatively, would it be necessary to have a USB printer switch ( if such exists)?

    Thanks

You can't connect two PCs to the same USB hub.

A quick google search for USB printer switch will show lots of devices that you can purchase to do the job though.

There's probably a reason you didn't ask this, but would printer sharing via the operating system, over a network be possible for this person?

Stuart: Yes, I'll try that! It helps to know that this is what you're looking for...

Chris: No, these two machines aren't networked, and are just in the same place somewhat occasionally...

    Thanks both!
