    flash

Hey all, I'm having a little trouble with this:

I have a button, with a rollover to change it color, also, it fades in a graphic across the other side of the page.

Button -> Over graphic is a movie clip that brings up the other graphic.

I want the graphic across the page to stay on screen unless they mouseover something else. They will also be buttons. The problem I'm having:
WHen I mouseover the button, it changes color and brings up the other buttons... yay... when I take the mouse off it, the other buttons disappear.
http://thewolfmans.com/main.html is the swf. If you rollover Bio, you'll se what I mean.

    Re: flash

Aaahh I see what you mean... I used to have the same thing with my old menu buttons designed in Fireworks. The problem occurs because of this MouseOver in the script that has a delay.

Is there anyway you can produce this with layers Such that when you mouseover the option on the left of the screen, it activates (for a better word) a layer on the right that produces your new buttons. The layer activated should be close enough not to get lost after the mouseover....if memory serves me right this is possible...

saying that I could try thi sat home tonight and get back to you..

    Hi Mike,

Without seeing your exact source code, it's hard to know exactly what to tell you to change.

However, the most likely issue is the mouse-out event of the button in question (or the mouse-over event of the background). You'll want to be sure to only time that you hide the secondary buttons are when another primary button's mouse-over event fires. In the case of this structure, you do not want to hide the secondary buttons when mousing over the background.

    Hope this helps!

    Re: flash

Heya Mark, Got another one you may be able to help me with. Flash MX 2004 Pro. How do I do a scroll window. Not an auto scrolling window, one with the scroll bar on the right.

    Text and pics.

    TIA

    Hi Mike,

Sorry - it's been a loooong time since I've used flash for anything serious. You can find a wealth of info in a google on "flash 2004 scroll".

If you just have a text area you can use the scrollbar component. But if you have a full-blown movie clip. you may need to do something a bit more customized.

    Good luck!
