old calendar meetings not there (office 2000/2003)

    Hi gang,

Someone told me they have a problem with their old meetings dissapearing from the calendar. It seems that nothing older than 6 months is available for consulting anymore.
Could it have anything to do with the archive function? If so, how can events be un-archived.

    tks.

    1) Right-click Calendar in the folder list and select Properties. In the AutoArchive tab, you can view and change the settings. (If the AutoArchive tab is not available, it may have been turned off by the IT people)

    2) Select Tools | Options.., activate the Other tab and click the AutoArchive button. Here, you can see to which file (.pst) items are archived.

    3) You can open the archive .pst file using File | Open | Outlook Data File... It is then possible to drag calendar items back to the calendar under the mailbox. This is probably easiest if you switch to a list view.

Re: old calendar meetings not there (office 2000/2003)

I know this is an old post.....

I am using Outlook 2007 and have had the archive turned on for the calendar. Now I look in the list view under the archive file and don't see any item called calendar. I have three months worth of appointments in there that I would like to go back and reference! Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Mark

What happens if you switch to Calendar - is Calendar in Archive Folders listed in the bar on the left hand side (perhaps under Other Calendars)?

    Hey Hans,
It has been a while but things are picking up again.

Here is a screen snap of the Calendar view pane. You will see that I have two calendars that I use. The plain old "Calendar" is for my personal business and the "Service Calendar" is for the customer service group here. I ran an archive last week and all appointments older than 5 months disappeared. I do have a PST file called Service Calendar, but when I try to open it, it shows up in the folder list but there is nothing inside of it. It is however 265KB in size. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Mark

I forgot to mention that if I show the Calendar in archive folders check box, that shows the archived bits from my personal calendar named "Calendar"

    Thanks,
    Mark

Re: old calendar meetings not there (office 2000/2003)

    Hi,
No, that shows my personal calendar, not the service schedule calendar, which has all the appointments I want to see. What is puzzling to me is that there is a service calendar pst file but when I try to open it, there is nothing in it.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Does the Archive PST show no Calendar Folder, or is the Calendar Folder empty of Items?

    Right-click the Service Schedule calendar.
Select Properties from the popup menu.
    Activate the AutoArchive tab.
Does this calendar use the default AutoArchive settings?

If so, close the dialog, then select Tools | Options...
    Activate the Other tab.
    Click AutoArchive.
See which .pst file is used for AutoArchive.
Check whether this .pst file is already open. If not, open it.

If the Service Schedule calendar uses custom AutoArchive settings, see which .pst file is used. It could be a different one from the default archive .pst.
Check whether this .pst file is already open. If not, open it.

    Hi Hans,
I checked all that you have listed below. I have since of course turned off the auto-archiving of the calendar. But selecting either one of the other radio buttons for standard or custom archiving shows the regular "archive.pst" file and location. This standard file is open but I cannot see any calendar items other than the personal calendar I mentioned earlier.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Ok, thanks. I will poke around and see if I can find anything else out.

    Take care,
    Mark
