Re: Paste as an Excel Object (2002 SP3)

If you're pasting an Excel range without a fill color as an Excel worksheet object, it becomes a transparent object in Word. How this is displayed is related to the setting for field shading in the View tab of Tools | Options (in Word). Does it make a difference if you turn off field shading?

Re: Paste as an Excel Object (2002 SP3)

I've now toggled all the settings for field shading (Never, Always, and When Selected) and it doesn't seem to affect my document in any way. I'm still getting yellow as the background when pasting an Excel object without a white fill....

Could you attach a small document with an Excel object that shows yellow on your PC?

Here you go. I just copied/pasted this one two minutes ago. I should mention that I'm linking the spreadsheets not embedding them. This one I had to embed so you could see it.

    Thanks.

Most of the cells in the Excel object actually have a yellow fill color, they are not transparent. If I set them to no fill color (transparent), they will look white or gray, depending on the field shading setting.

When I opened the embedded Excel workbook, the cells were set to have a yellow background colour. I just set this to no colour and it removed the yellow colour when viewed in word.

Re: Paste as an Excel Object (2002 SP3)

Weird. Definitely weird. On my side, it DOES NOT have yellow fill on the cells. I have absolutely no idea how it's showing up as yellow fill on yours. Either way, I'm just filling in the ones that are affected this way with white and the problem is resolved for the moment. I'll see if it happens on anything else except for this particular document and report back when I have some time...

    Thank you both for trying.

When I right-click the Excel object and select Worksheet Object | Open from the popup menu, then select one of the yellow cells and look at its formatting, I get what is shown in the screenshot below.

This is what I have on my system. Maybe I need to re-install Office?

The document you attached contains a linked Excel object. Since the source is not available to us, we cannot do anything with the Excel object. If the source is not proprietary, you could post it too.

Here you go. Keep in mind that I colored all the cells with White fill color to get around this problem in order to meet my deadline.....

The Excel object in the Word document has had yellow marker applied to it. If you select the object and apply None as marker, the yellow wull disappear.

That was it! Wow, I would never have guessed since I never use that feature in Word!

    Thanks much as usual.
