    iColorFolder

iColorFolder <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15>ware allows to customize the color of every WindowsXP folder

    Organise your files more easily
With iColorFolder, give some color to WindowsXP folders. With just a right-click, colorize your folders, and discover a new intuitive way to classify your files. A quick view is now enough to identify the folder you are looking for !

    Classify your folders by Family
You can now classify your folders by Family. Red is an Important folder, Orange is Urgent, Green is Familial... Choose the attributions that you like, so you'll never delete an important folder by error.

    A fast and light tool
iColorFolder is a very light soft, that doesn't stay in memory. It uses a native functionnality of WindowsXP to be more efficient. Discover it's simplicity : with a single right-click on a folder you colorize it ; the necessary and only the necessary. iColorFolder is proudly an Open-Source program.

    Fully skinnable
iColorFolder is bundled with three apparences : the default apparence of WindowsXP folders, a Mac OS X skin and a Snow.E2 skin. If your system is already customized with shellpacks like WinOSX, you'll keep the same folder apparence. You can find other skins on the Web or even easily create one yourself.

I find this really handy myself. I view folders in Windows Explorer using "classic view", and this provides ready distinction of folder types and oft' used folders, according to my own usage patterns.

Now this is really a find, Alan. I have always wanted to color code my folders and have never had anything to do it with that worked! I'm on my way "out there" to down load and try it! <img src=/S/thumbup.gif border=0 alt=thumbup width=15 height=15>

Ha! This sounds like the answer to my prayers - well, some of them! - so I'm off to try it now. I too have a preference for the classic view, and this could be very, very handy. Thanks!

Sounds like something fun to have. I think I too will download. Sounds like a big improvement on the following:

(Any Loungers remember "Woody's Little Green Folder" from about four years ago? This reference (<post:=177,138>post 177,138</post:>) doesn't even go back all the way.)

I don't think they are quite comparable. The great thing about the Little Green Folder was that it clearly highlighted which folder was open in the Folder pane in WE, which this sadly doesn't appear to do.

    Re: iColorFolder

Yes, you're right Leif and I've discovered that the two 'concepts' don't play well together. After installing this gem, my little green folder thingie was turned off. I went back to MyProperties and turned it back on successfully, but the iColor right-click function does nothing now. I guess I'll remove it, for I really am helped by the little green folder. Maybe crazy but my thought was to 'color' only a few folders that I favor a lot and still have the green one appear in the left pane when a folder is open. Can't have my cake and eat it too, as someone is purported to have said...

Is it just me and my XP, or does it insist on re-arranging my Desktop icons went I don't want it to?

    It hasn't happened to mine - yet. Perhaps I haven't used it enough. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> So far, so good! <img src=/S/thumbup.gif border=0 alt=thumbup width=15 height=15>

    Re: iColorFolder

I'm back.................I made a mess of the desktop - putting icons here and there and rebooted twice. It didn't move a thing as you can see in the pic but maybe I should clean up a bit! <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

    Re: iColorFolder

An alternative might be Rainbow Folders (postcardware). Seems to work OK with the green open folder, but not as slick, coarser graphics and not a context menu item.
