Registry Booster

I just found Registry Booster after my hard drive failed and was only partially recovered. The damage was all on my boot partition of course, so there was a lot of garbage in the registry when the old drive was ghosted to a new one. This cleaned up a lot, and while I can't say I noticed any difference in performance, I did notice that I could reinstall some of my utilities without having the machine hang when I tried to shut down. Before using this, the best I could do was simply uninstall applications until the machine would shutdown normally.

    Re: Registry Booster

Did you think of trying Windows Live Safety Center beta? It does a lot of registry checking, and tends to recommend an amazing number of deletions!

No I didn't, John. I had a promo from Computer Associates, who were partnering with UniBlue to offer this and tried it out. I'll save the MS beta stuff for other than my OS, thanks.

But surely you are running Microsoft beta code everywhere else? (They just don't call it that, except for Live Safety Centre and Windows Defender...) And isn't all Google stuff called Beta (almost as a type of trade mark?).
