Automatically Adding Holidays To Calendar (02 SP3)

I've tried adding holidays to the calendar (Tools | Options | Preferences | Calendar Options | Add Holidays | United States), yet none (Memorial Day, Christmas and Halloween, to name just a few) appear on my calendar

    What's wrong? Many thanks.

Not sure Jon. They are easy to miss if your view is set to 1 day. If your view is set to multiple days and you still do not see them, you might try adding them again. When you select US and then click OK you should either get a message that they are already installed, or you will see a transaction installing them.

    Hi Paul,

I'm using the one-day view, Outlook confirmed that the holidays are already installed, and I just re-installed them again--but to no avail...

    Howdy stranger <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29>

Jon, try searching for outlook.hol file on your PC. Having done so open it in notepad and see from the list if your holiday has been added.

    <P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by Jon_Rick on 27-May-06 13:28. )</P>Great to hear from you Jerry! Unfortunately, it seems I'm missing the outlook.hol file...

Update: Via Slipstick, I found and downloaded "Outlook 2000 Add-in: Holiday Updates."

With a bit of tweaking, I now have all the -- and only copy of each -- U.S. holidays through 2007

Also, it turned out that I had the outlook.hol file (in C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice101033), but since I hide known file extensions, Google Desktop couldn't find it.

    Jon,
So, if you already had the outlook.hol file and had the data loaded, what was preventing you from viewing the holidays?
    I missed something.

    <img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15> Now that is a problem <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

I have attached my outlook.hol file...don't worry nothing secrets in there

    Place in C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice101033

Just remember Outlook 2002 holidays only go up to 2005 but you can manually change them in notepd or following the link above

    SO that's the answer!
The original .hol file only had entries up to 2005 and Jon was probably looking at 2006 to see if they were there.
The downloaded file simply had newer holiday dates. Thanks for the info Jerry.
