    Video Playback (2002 SP3)

    I was wondering how to get a video to play when the user clicks a command button on a form. The video is embedded in an ole object within a table in the database. Normally I would not use this approach by embedding the file but it is a one time only situation.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks,

    Even if it is a one-time situation, why use this approach at all? I'd still store the filename of the video file in the table and use Application.FollowHyperlink or ShellExecute to open the file in the associated application.

    I have been getting problems with someone trying to be cute and delete the video or renaming it. After reading several other posts on Woody's Lounge you have given the same advice about using this approach. Therefore, I have talked to the IT administrator and asked him to create a read only directory for everyone else on the net work.

    Thanks, and always appreciate your advice.

    If you really want to embed the video after all, you can use the instruction

    Me.ControlNameMe.Action = acOLEActivate

    where ControlName is the name of the OLE control bound to the OLE field in the table.
