    2nd Hardrive as BackUp

Is installing a 2nd Hardrive a good option for a backup

system ? I never see this option in any discussion of

    backup systems.

Yes, but what are your plans in doing the backup?

Look into Disk Image or such type of software.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I like the idea & have used it.

    Pro:
    1. it's the fastest way to backup a drive
    2. you don't have to babysit it, exchanging CDs (tape & floppies are just out nowadays)

    Con:
    1. You have no protection against theft, fire, flood, etc. However, if you keep your CDRs right next to the computer, you're almost in the same position.
    2. Something might screw up both hard drives at the same time.

If I had it to do over again, I'd get two removable hard drives that were the same size as the main drive. Then I could do 2 backups on hard drives & 1 on CDRs (or RWs) before I had to erase one.
