Setting Transparency on a graphic (Excel 2000/2003)

    Hi

I use the Company Logo in most of my spreadsheets, I set it to be transparent so that it matches the background but when opened on another PC the transparency has gone and shows as a white background, is there any way to prevent this.

    Many thanks

    Hi Hans

Nearly all use Excel 2000 or 20003.

I don't think the transparency option was available in Excel 2000, but I'm not sure (I don't have Excel 2000 available). Have you checked whether the Colors and Lines tab of Format | Format Picture has a transparency slider in Excel 2000?

    Hi Hans

At this time I don't have access to Excel 2000 but I do 2002 and 2003, I currently create these workbooks in 2002 and 20003, I have checked with a Colleague who is using 20002 and when he opens it the transparency has gone.

    Regards

I'm afraid I don't know an explanation or solution - Excel 2002 does support transparency. If you wish, and if you are allowed to do so, you can attach a workbook with the logo, so that Loungers can test in their version of Excel.

Re: Setting Transparency on a graphic (Excel 2000/2003)

Since the sheet background is white, the logo looks transparent when I open the workbook, but when I apply a different fill color to the cells, the logo remains white, so it actually is not transparent. This is in Excel 2003 SP2.

Is the logo in this worksheet transparent on your PC? It isn't on mine - see screenshot. I think the original logo is not transparent.

Re: Setting Transparency on a graphic (Excel 2000/

When I opened your attachment with Excel 2000, the (white) background was not set to transparent. The picture toolbar allows you to set it to transparent, which I did, and then saved it. Opening again with 2000/2002 and the transparency is retained....
